Celebrate National Poetry Month with Book Spine Poetry!
Can’t say it was my idea. Since I must give credit where credit is due, I would like to thank Travis Jonker at 100 Scope Notes for the inspiration to create Book Spine Poems.
Boy! Did we have fun! How do you make a book spine poem, you ask? Simple:
1. Scour your library for interesting titles that jump out or inspire you
2. Stack them until the titles on the spines read like the lines of a poem
3. Take a picture with the LTC’s iPod Touches so you can share your genius
Why, we even had some teachers creating their own poems! Below are just a few of the poems created by the students of Pine Glen. The full collection will be on display in the hallways of Pine Glen during Arts & Technology Night on May 1, 2012 or check out the full Book Spine Poetry Gallery on our Flickr site.
And Happy Poetry Month!
